Kahala Mall Public Appearance

In the weeks leading up to Festival Ball, public appearances by the 15 Queen Contestants will be held at several of Oahu's major shopping centers. The purpose of these appearances is not only to introduce this year's contestants and promote the Festival, but also to showcase aspects of Japanese culture to the community.

The first public appearance will be held at Kahala Mall. Cultural entertainment will be provided by Ryukyu Koten Afuso-ryu Ongaku Kenkyuu Choichi Kai. Emcees will then ask each of the contestants to answer a question on a variety of subjects. Through this question and answer experience, each contestant will gain valuable practice in sharpening her public speaking skills, developing her poise and increasing her self-confidence.

The haiku & art contest winners will also be presented their awards at the Kahala Mall appearance.

This is a free event to the public.
