The culmination of months of classes and rehearsals, Festival Ball showcases contestants and how much they have learned. The evening concludes with the coronation of the 71st Cherry Blossom Festival Queen and court. It is an unforgettable night of elegance and excitement!

The evening begins with the Western phase. Queen Contestants deliver a prepared speech while wearing an evening gown. During the Eastern phase, Queen Contestants answer an impromptu question while wearing a traditional furisode silk kimono. The evening ends with the crowning of the 70th Cherry Blossom Festival Queen and Court. We invite everyone to join us for this very special evening.

Please note that while the Safe Access Oahu program is set to end on March 5, 2022, in an abundance of care for our Contestants, Sponsors, and Attendees have set forth the following protocols for our event. Please read and follow directions in the “COVID-19 Testing Information” link below.

All attendees must show proof of a negative COVID test within 48 hours of the event regardless of vaccination status.

Registration is at 11:00am. Shotgun start at 12:00pm (noon)

Join us at Hawai`i Prince Golf Club for the 70th Cherry Blossom Festival Golf Tournament! This tournament will feature a four-person scramble format with a shotgun start and an awards banquet at the end of the tournament. Shine up your clubs and hit the driving range, as the 69th Court, 70th Contestants, HJJCC and CBF volunteers will be there to cheer you on!

70TH CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL CONTESTANT RECEPTION

Last year, unfortunately we were unable to hold an in-person Contestant Reception due to COVID-19. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, to mitigate exposure and keep everyone safe during these challenging times, we are kindly requiring a negative COVID-19 test results within 48 hours of the event, regardless of vaccination status and recovery of COVID-19. If you are ill or experiencing any symptoms of illness, please stay home.

This event will be slightly different from past Contestant Reception’s, but we look forward to an enjoyable event!  Please fill out the contact tracing information on your Contestant Reception ticket beforehand and bring it with you.

At the venue entrance, security will check your ID (21 years and older) and vaccination card (or negative covid test) and you will receive a wristband.  At the 70th Cherry Blossom Festival Contestant Reception entrance, we will be conducting a temperature check, collecting your ticket with contact tracing information, and checking for your negative COVID-19 test. You will receive a name card that you may take with you into the event and place at your seat, where you will find your pre-packaged pupu ready to enjoy.  Face masks will be required throughout the night unless you are actively eating or drinking. There will be lucky draw tickets, prizes, and games.

The highlight of each public appearance is the introduction of the 70th Cherry Blossom Festival Queen Contestants participating in that year's festival. Emcee will ask each of the contestants to answer a question on a variety of subjects. Through this question and answer experience, each contestant will gain valuable practice in sharpening her public speaking skills, developing her poise and increasing her self-confidence.

***UPDATE***

Due to the current ongoing situation, Festival Ball has been officially postponed until further notice. This event will be rescheduled for no later than June 30, 2020. We will closely monitor the situation and evaluate recommendations from health officials. If it is still deemed unsafe to host public events, we may decide to cancel Festival Ball entirely. The HJJCC will make a final decision by April 30, 2020.
